The 4th of February marks World Cancer Day! Each year, approximately 100,000 European workers lose their lives to cancer, making it the leading cause of death. The main factor behind this grim statistic is exposure to cancer-causing agents. To put an end to this, it is crucial to prevent workers from coming into contact with hazardous substances. Elk jaar op 28 april is het de internationale Workers’ Memorial Day. De dag waarop wereldwijd de werkenden worden herdacht die zijn overleden door een bedrijfsongeval of een beroepsziekte. In Nederland zijn dat naar verwachting jaarlijks ongeveer 4000 mensen.

Het Nederlands Centrum voor Beroepsziekten (NCvB) publiceert het overzicht van ernstige stoffengerelateerde beroepsziekten.

Het NCvB is sinds september betrokken bij het Landelijk Expertise Centrum – Stoffengerelateerde Beroepsziekten (LEC-SB). Dit nieuwe expertisecentrum gaat de kennis over stoffengerelateerde beroepsziekten bundelen en een algemene tegemoetkomingsregeling opstellen voor getroffenen.
